Hello, Gorgeous!
This ring has a really fun story.
More than a decade ago, my grandfather—who was a jeweler—cast this ring in 10K yellow gold at his home in Indiana. When he passed away, my grandmother asked me to sell some of the pieces she didn't want, and this empty setting was one of them.
For the next ten years, I kept it tucked away.
Every so often, when I came across a large trillion-cut loose stone, I'd pull out this setting and pop the stone into the mount just to see how it looked. I must have tried at least a dozen different stones over the years. (To be clear, I wasn't actually setting them—just placing them into the mounting.) And every time, I'd think, Nope. Not quite.
Fast forward to a few months ago, I found this chunky, gorgeous amethyst and a vivid piece of Sleeping Beauty Turquoise.
Voilá. A love match.
The result feels like two jewels that somehow wandered into the same room at an over-the-top 1980s costume party and immediately decided they belonged together. 😂
Except there's nothing costume about this jewel.
The centerpiece is a substantial trillion-cut amethyst, approximately 4 carats, in a deep, royal purple. Alongside it sits a vivid baguette-cut Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, creating a wonderfully unexpected combination of rich purple and electric blue.
And underneath it all is my grandfather's original 10K gold setting—a little piece of family history that spent more than a decade waiting for exactly the right stones.
